Install the add in card then go to Control panel and set it as the default device. Audio Device Is Not Installed The most you get from MS is... if you ever hit 'load fail safe defaults' it often turns it off. 'optimised defaults' should enable it. (this is just a heads up in case you ever reset your BIOS

Once in the soundcard properties, click on resources and see if there is any indication of conflict. Is there nothing in the software available to alter between the two?
