There are no "enterprise" class laptop drives. I don't know but it seems that the problem is on 1Tb & 2TB hdd. Needless to say, dell provided seagate drives. It's not even 5 years old and it's already failing.

They try to be the most affordable big brand… I see this as an aggressive campaign that I do not appreciate, because quality is not the 1st priority in these cases So bad that the Deskstar series got the nickname Death Star.
People assume that drives in external enclosures are exactly the same as bare drives that you can buy at Newegg, at Best Buy, etc. Best Internal Hard Drives solved What is the most reliable "consumer" hard drive? Remember Quantum ?

Still, I never take my eye off it & back up data stored on it regularly. I've lost irreplaceable data on the 1st one, then got smarter and started backing up more regularly. Since there was no tracking of the origin of the Seagate drives, bare drive vs ripped out of enclosure, there is no way to determine this. A name gives a newborn baby an identity and a place in the world. The laws of nature always win in the end.
They also tended to be CONNER drives, who insisted that they control the supply chain and thus had more consistent quality parts and thus drives. Could you please share some info regarding HDD manufacturers' reliability? J. What a few years and an acquisition makes IBM to Hitachi. The truly arrogant never see the damage they do to themselves.
Also, WD's software support is best in class as well. I simply will never buy a product that uses seagate drives, or a company that is owned by seagate. We agree. It is a blog post with some useful observations.
Western Digital for me is second best in the call center and I buy them because hitachi is somehow difficult to buy in my country. What do you think? Robert Ummm that was MANY years ago, like more than 10 years ago, and that nickname was attributed to the Deskstar line of HDD while it was still a division of My expereince with seagate is 100% drive failure within 6 months comparing 4 seagate drives.
It does not matter, as whoever you are is irrelevant anyhow.
